At the end of the first season with our 17B we had a very nasty rock chip in the fibreglass at the front end. It's probably about the width of my thumbnail in diameter, with jagged edges and goes all the way through to the woven material underlying the surface material, where the area exposed is smaller.
Any tips or recipes re the best way to repair it successfully will be most appreciated!

I would consider bringing it to a marine fiberglass repair shop, or corvette body repair shop. If the woven material is visible, it is important to prevent water penetration. A DIY product that could be used is Marine Tex. Takes a while to set up unless you use a special lamp (follow instructions). White color may not match though.
