Due to the controversy I will stop recomending people buy these miss made trailers. They might be better off getting a "Stickey" trailer put together with a staple gun!!! SHEESH Alf

Hi Alf
After a lifetime of labor , notable drinking jags, and a few fist fights I did not win, I am aware everyday of several misalignments. My mom said I was perfect and I sure hope she wasn’t lying to me. Hope you’re coming into the fall refreshed and prepared for the holidays.

Hi: Iowa Dave... HA!!! My mom said I was perfect. Perfect idiot, perfect a$$ .... perfect so n so!!!
The last few weeks have found me in not so good health and being "Perfect" it's taking me longer to rebound. I drink far less and maybe that's the problem!!! Alf

Hi: Oldtimer... I'm happy with mine, but then I've been known for being a little off before. I suffer from CDO. That's OCD in alphabetical order. LoL Alf

So far three 2nd gen 5.0 owners have identified a 2" body/frame misalignment , Jim's comments seems to indicate his is centered ?
I can't say for certain mine is centred, as I have not measured. But, my eye usually notices these things and I haven't noticed in the two years of ownership. I will check soon, it is stored only a few blocks away.

BTW, Rapha's body is only 1" off, not 2". If you moved it 2" it would be just as bad the other way. :

Well now I just had to go out and look at my first generation 5.0TA and wouldn’t you know it mine looks to be off by the width of my index finger, second knuckle (didn’t think it warranted hauling out the micrometer).
Went in and had a good long ponder over a coffee and came to the conclusion, I loved my trailer yesterday, its still the same trailer today, I’ve washed and waxed under there since 2015 and never noticed it, there’s no functional issues and have decided it’s still perfect.

And that can certainly take a while at your advanced age.

It depends on your point of view. What if you have a terminal illness, and the primary reason you purchased this particular trailer is for it’s good reputation and high resale value, and you wanted your wife to be able to sell it for as much as possible when the worst happens? Now you’re worried about how much of a discount a potential buyer is going to want because there are other Escape trailers out there that dont look misaligned like your trailer does. Hell, you only paid $30,000+ for a brand that brags about quality control. Would that be something to gripe about?

That sounds simple, but as already discussed the body being off-centre and the trailer's frame being straight are two entirely different things. I haven't even seen anyone report whether a body which is off-centre in this flat area is actually off-centre by that amount when looking at the whole width of the body.

My greatest fear is that when I die, Rita will sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it.

When I die, I don't care what happens to my stuff. I plan on wearing it out anyway! I've had too many family members pass that were afraid of using nice things because they always wanted them to stay nice. Heck with that

It's easy to tell someone else that they shouldn't complain about their trailer. And, most likely the frame tows straight. But if I went to pick up my new trailer and during the inspection I noticed the body was not aligned with the frame, I would be very reluctant to take possession. I would want an ironclad explanation as to why, a measurement of the frame alignment, and written assurance that the misalignment won't cause problems. Even then...

Hey Alf I’m pretty sure we’re in the same neck of the woods age wise and same camp when it comes to trailer choice and ice cream cones.

Don't let Alfie fool you.
In his mind he is a millennial. For proof here he is taking a picture of his meal to post on instagram.

Just did the measurements on my 5. For what it’s worth it’s pretty close to equal on each side ie. dead centre. Doubt if an inch or two out will affect your Tow. Interesting though this is the first time I ever thought to check. Thanks for the post.

🤔I think you made a great decision on the Escape. I think what your seeing is manufacturing tolerance and nothing to worry about. Like I said my trailer is not perfectly centered and I never knew it till you brought it up. Not about to go out with my calipers and get a precise measurement cause it makes no difference. I think a perfectly centered one would be the exception. Everything has a manufacturing tolerance. The fit of the body to the frame only has to look good, doesn’t have to be a precision fit. Enjoy your trailer 😎
