Escape windows

I notice over the years that Escape has changed or no longer offer opening front or rear windows. It seems in some of the older units I saw a divider strip in the front and rear windows and I assume they opened. I also read about the 19 windows being backward due to the rain coming in the wrong way slider rear/front windows. I wonder, if the smaller 17B windows which appear to be awning type lower 1/2 opening, would be a better choice on the 19' Escape for those 2 windows? I also notice that the early 17' Escapes had a bath vent in the roof, I wonder why it is no longer offered? Anyone venture a guess? Thanks for your feedback, this info will help me make a $30k purchase, sight unseen, which is a little scary, a little bit easier.

Re: Escape windows

I don't believe that any Escape model has ever had an opening back window. As for the front windows, some of the earlier models had an opening front window ( my 2005 17B has one ) but I believe it was discontinued due to the risk of water coming in while driving in a rain storm. That being said I've never had a problem with water coming in my front window and I've driven through some pretty mean rain storms.

All the Escapes still have a vent in the bathrooms and the 5.0 has a power vent; a quick check in the "Features" pull down menu on the Escape web site will confirm this.

As for the windows being in backwards on the 19; I don't think that you will find that is so. I read a post once where someone was going to reverse their back windows so that the opening part was over the awning and Reace replied to the post warning them not to do it because the windows would leak ........ so I very much doubt that he would build his trailers that way!!

Re: Escape windows

Didn't I hear/read someplace the reason there's no longer a opening front window is the manufacturer quit making one that size?

Re: Escape windows

Actually, the rock guard was discontinued, so they had to switch to another supplier for both the window and rock guard.
On my 2008 17B I have the opening front window, but the two small windows either side do not open. Nor does the back window because water would be sucked in when driving.
