Escape19 measurement please

Trying to determine which drop is needed for Andersen WDH I have a 2013 Escape19 that I'm not able to measure at the moment. I would like the measurement from the level ground while the trailer is level to the bottom of the coupler please. Thanks everyone.

I beleave it 19 inches but to be sure it's only a quick phone call away just call ETI. They will be more than happy to give you the right measurement.

I hope you realize that the standard reference points are

1. for the tug: the top of the receiver opening and
2. for the trailer: the top of the ball... which means the top of the coupler.

As long as you know why you want the bottom of coupler height - what you are going to do with it - that's fine.

DROP/RISE LENGTH
To determine if you need a 4" or 8" drop/rise, please do the following:
A. With your trailer level, measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler.
B. Now measure from the ground to the top of your receiver (top of 2" square tube) -see illustration below.

Yeah, Andersen messed that one up a bit. They are standard on the tug side, but use the bottom of the coupler on the trailer side. This means that they are assuming that the ball height equals the coupler height, which isn't too bad for most couplers and most balls. Since they sell only adjustable ball mounts, I suppose they are only trying to get reasonably close; you can change by one vertical position increment if you need to.

As I said, since you know that's what you need, it will work fine... you just wouldn't want to use the bottom-of-coupler dimension with a more industry-standard (and thorough) set of instructions which call for the top-of-coupler dimension.

The Andersen is adjustable, I have moved mine up and down several times one hole adjustment.
So really you can make your own the way you want.

I ordered Anderson WDH 8" drop/rise. It gave me better margin of flexibility to adjust hitch ball up and down comparingg with 4". It is also less restrictive when you consider trading in your TV.

As already suggested, there are two different lengths of "rack", so some measurement is needed to plan the right one... and then you need a starting point for adjustment. Their rough measurement scheme is likely good enough for this purpose.

That is a big 16" margin for error and you may have issues with it hitting the ground or speed bumps. My trailer brackets were too large and they scrapped when backing into my driveway. I stopped at andersen in Idaho on my way to Osoyoos and they switched brackets, gratis.

I brough the Anderson #3351 WDH 8" drop/rise adjustable shank and had it installed by ETI. It fitted well. Most of the new US made big engine SUV or trucks have a hitch ball height of approx. 22".

The bracket sets I selected was #3359, 3" 4" 5" 6" multi-frame bracketset.

Do you mean a top-of-receiver-opening height of 22"? The ball height is whatever you make it with your choice and adjustment of ball moint.

The top of my Yukon SUV 2" x 2" receiver is 24" from the level ground. I needed a 5" drop to be level with the 19" hitch tongue. Therefore, I ordered a 8" adjustable shank to level the trailer and TV. Thanks.

You are forgetting about squat, your tow vehicle will drop 1-2 " hooked up!!

Thanks. You are correct about the squat, but ETI installed it with hitch ball at the right height.
