ETI-installed Jack antenna question

I've been so happy with the Jack in my 21 I decided to try one at home in an effort to ditch the satellite TV now that we have many internet options for delivery we use instead of the satellite. While reading the manual supplied with head unit, it stated the flat side of the Jack should be aimed at the transmitter towers (which are line-of-sight for us.)

I didn't get the Jack manual with my trailer documents, and noticed the arrow on the interior control knob points the same direction as the pointy end of the head unit on the outside of the trailer. Seems a bit counter-intuitive to me that one should aim the arrow away from the transmission sources.

When you buy the head unit separate, it doesn't come with the blinky signal strength lights.

I'm concluding it is possible to put that knob on backwards. Rather than take things apart I just thought I'd ask if this is the case for other owners?

Hi: tractors1... Your right about the arrow orientation. I have not taken it apart but always point the inner arrow away from the signal source and the external aerial acts like a reversed flying arrow to capture a higher gain signal like the bowl of a dish. Alf

Good luck with that. I've been wanting to do that for several years. I have a good OTA antenna and get all the local stations and newscasts that I want.

But there's one channel that my wife doesn't want to give up so here we are still receiving and paying for who knows how many channels we'll never watch

I suspect you're on Shaw Cable and I'm the same. Have internet, phone and cable. Lots of channels I don't watch, but Shaw has 65,000 WiFi hotspots in BC, so, as a customer, I watched the National newscast on my Mac for "free".
Campground had Wifi, but Shaw hotspot was better.

It is always good to hear a glowing report on something that you ordered but haven't tried yet. I have no idea what kind of results the Jack will give or on a lot of things with the whole rig. Setting some of these things up is just kind of a shot in the dark. Loren

You'd have been correct up to a couple of days ago. No phone anymore. Bought bluetooth cordless phones and chucked the landline. Wish I could chuck the cable.

Yes, I was happy to see the positive Jack reports also. I've been using a 4 bay OTA antenna, which is really good, but bulky. Time to bite the bullet and get the Jack.

Hi: Loren & Cathy... My best friend is a TV guru and he is very impressed with the performance of the Jack antenna. While boondocking in a farm field at Boothill Country Music Jamboree in Bothwell Ontario, using a 100 watt inverter, the TV was able to pick up 20 channels. We managed nearly 50 about 35 miles from Tampa last January.
TV reception OTA is still dependent on the weather and line of sight distance. Alf

Installed the Jack antenna head ($45) at my house (in the attic.) It picks up 38 channels while there are only 6 local transmitters. Amazing - and I can reuse the satellite cable so no need to run new wires. Definite winner!

Farewell Dish and Direct TV. My Roku 3 covers all the internet delivery at no monthly charge.
