Extra Keys

Called Bauer to inquire about extra keys and it was easy- very nice lady there named Kim took my order and 2 keys were $9 with postage. Intend to hide one like I do on our cars. Has definitely come in handy. Their # 1-866 682-2837 or you can order online at Bauer Products |.

I've got extra an TV key in the trailer, and extra trailer keys in the TV. That way if the rig gets stolen they won't have to break the locks. Kind of like leaving your car unlocked so the crooks won't break a window to steal your 8 track.

I went to my local locksmith, the kind that has a gazillion key blanks. Four Bauer keys for $10. Took less than 15 minutes.

The extra keys only work if you bring them with you. I take an extra set of tow vehicle and trailer keys and leave them inside the BlackJack. I have an extra door pass key outside on the propane tanks. I also keep a Robertson screwdriver in my tool box accessible by the outside hatch, in case the lock malfunctions.

Both Lisa and I carry our own set of trailer keys, though mine usually just stay in the tow unless I lock up for some reason. We always carry two sets of tow keys, though one is usually stowed hidden away somewhere inside, just as a backup. Before I had the number pad entry for the tow, I would use one of those key lockers hidden on the frame somewhere as a backup to get inside.

I have a heck of a time with keys, I set them down, I lock them in the trunk, you name it. Therefore, I have learned to have with me, or in accessible places, several keys. I once locked two sets in my pickup at the same time, one on the seat and one in the ignition, much to the delight of my coworkers. Not so funny when I got my third key out of my wallet and unlocked the door. I did enjoy the keyless entry on a couple cars I had, my daughter has the proximity ignition on her Nissan rogue and I think my son in laws have them too. Can't have too many spares.

How 'bout the set you are looking for, the ones that are actually in your hand?

Not that I have ever done that, I have just heard about it.

But, Jim, I couldn't tell what was in my hand, because I couldn't find my glasses (which were in my other hand.)
