Fantastic Fan vs MaxxAir

Trying to decide if I want the fantastic fan in lieu of the maxx air fan on my 19'. Fantastic offers a clear double pane cover that eliminates condensation in the winter and the smoke cover is cool because it lets a lot of light inside both in day and at night you can see the stars. Fantastic also allows you to slow the speed with a resister kit approximately 50% for a quiet fan.
I have never used the Maxx Air and I'm not familiar with it's operation other than it allows use in the rain. But the hood is not clear or smoke and I'd think the light is restricted. Also can the speed be adjusted real slow? Thanks for your opinion.

Hi: cpaharley... You can get a smoke covered MaxxFan. They are more than the clear/white ones. IMHO the MaxxFan is far superior to the Fantastic Fan. That's why I liked Escape trailers & 5.0 in particular, as Reace used the MaxxFan on them. You can even tow with them open as the rain hood has a lock feature too. The Maxx Fan has 10 speeds forward and reverse, controlled electronically. You can't blow the fuse when reversing it like some other fans. When you hit the reverse button, it slows to a stop, pauses and then starts in reverse. Also, it has a 'ceiling fan' mode. Close the lid and it circulates the air inside the trailer. Pretty cool.

ok, I'l ask Reace to install the MaxxAir- like I said I never used one but it seems to be a better fan than Fantastic, so I'll go that route.

Finally got our smoked Maax Fan cover. Now it matches the smoked vent cover we replaced last year. 8)

Looks much better with the solar panels too - everything on top matches! Thanks cpaharley for the contact info for the Maax cover.

I also picked up these retractable shade screens at Walmart on clearance for $1.00. They clamp easily on the vent housing and help reduce the light even further plus shade the interior.

I think it looks good just with the row of smoked tints running down the center of the roof. However, if I wanted it black, I wouldn't have a problem painting it. First thing I did when we got our Escape home from the factory was remove the plastic propane cover and paint it the same color as the trailer and storage box - the original "white" really bugged me!

When we were first looking at Escape trailers the yellowing of the plastic vents and plugs concerned me. They really made the trailers look older than they were. We visited Pat last week and she pointed out where she had painted them with Fusion. It looked great! If ETI is unable to use UV protected plastic maybe they could spray them as an option.

Since most RV manufacturers use the same plastic vents and plugs, it's not an ETI alone issue. I consider painting everything to be an owner mod or maintenance issue. YMMV

Jim there are other yellowing plastic parts on trailer . Yesterday I painted the little cable box , 120 electrical box , again the 9 in bath vent . You also have the stove vent which Escape could use instead the new UV non yellowing vent instead . I don't believe I can change that out now . It is a little larger hole and I don't want to mess with that . Should be done in build . Pat

I put 303 Aerospace on the round bath vent (and another smaller vent) as that might help keep it from becoming brittle and cracking? Also put 303 across the top of the awning as it will become brittle. Can't reach the A/C except maybe the side but will put 303 on the refrigerator vent cover also.

Hi Cathy been using 303 for years and did put on bath vent and stove vent but they still went back to yellow so I am looking for that bath vent a better solution . I think would like to try first covering up . I just wish it wasn't there at all . Pat

Actually, I think you need that bath vent, Pat, especially in hot weather. The window is just not going to do. Wish the 303 had worked. Maybe it has to be put on an item like that much more frequently than we put it on the trailer. I probably won't want to bother with those vents that much. We rarely have a ladder. But I will want to get the top of the awning more. I am guessing that it works on something like the awning material better than those hard vents.
