Fire alarm
ok I have a vey stupid question my alarm is chirping need a new battery? How does the cover come off. Obviously I'm not very handy.

I'm a champ at taking off the Fire Alarm... everytime I cook! Throw that sucker under the mattress to shut it up. Put it back up before bed.

We had the fire alarm go off when cooking when we first got our trailer, then we turned on the stove hood vent fan while cooking, and it hasn't gone off again.

I replaced mine with a smoke alarm designed for kitchens. It has a hush button that turns the alarm off for 10 minutes. No need to remove battery or hide under a mattress.

Has anyone replaced their CO/Propane alarm? Ours is well over 5 years old and we are looking to replace it. Not sure what is involved....

As long as it's not photoelectric. We replaced the "old" smoke detectors in our home a couple of years ago with a brand that had escape lights built in, but what we didn't know was that they're both ionization and photoelectric. Not a problem except they go off with not just smoke, but steam. They "see" the steam and think it could be smoldering smoke. Had to remove the ones in the kitchen and next to the bathroom because they kept giving false alarms when someone had either boiled water or taken a shower. The same thing would likely happen if you boiled some water or took a shower in the trailer.

I do turn on the Maxxfan when boiling water, or at least shut the stove off when the kettle starts to whistle.
I just replaced the propane gas alarm. They are not cheap.
Undo two screws. Cut the two wires, and pull them through the front of the bench into the cavity. Insert wires from new detector through the hole in the bench and connect. Screw detector to the face of the bench, where it was.

Sounds simple. Thanks. Checked the dates and we need to replace both alarms.

Can't remember what the sleeve ID is for the connections. I think it says in the installation manual. Bought what was required and a new wire stripper/crimper because the one I had was junk ( it cut the wires because it didn't have the appropriate slots for the wire size ).
The only problem I had was fastening the extra wire to the inside bench as neatly as Escape had done it.
