Fix for failed furnace fan
The furnace in our 2012 Escape 19 failed during our last trip. The model is Atwood hydro flame 7900II. The fan sounded as though it was trying to start, but it would not, and eventually the circuit breaker would trip. Removal of the furnace quickly revealed the problem -- the fan had fallen off of the motor shaft.
Removing the furnace turned out to be pretty simple. Turn the little black plastic fastener 90 degrees, and remove the cover; remove the two screws holding the furnace in place; disconnect the propane fitting; cut three wires; jiggle the furnace a little bit while applying force to pull the furnace out of the opening. Note that the furnace exhaust pipe slides into another pipe that exits the camper body, and this is a tight fit.
I removed the fan and motor from the furnace housing, slipped the fan back on the shaft, this time with a little Loctite on the set screw, and the problem was fixed.
