Flickering LED's

We recently had our new-to-us Escape retrofitted for LED's (at ETI) but didn't notice until weeks later that one of the lights flickers annoyingly & constantly. It's both halves of a dual fixture, leading me to surmise it's a wiring not a bulb issue?

Any thoughts or troubleshooting advice?

I've sent a query to ETI 10 days ago but haven't had a response.

Not an expert on anything electrical, but the flickering usually means a bad ground.

Give Reace a call, he told us something about that when we picked up our trailer and it was an easy fix. Just can't remember what it was.

Hi: maurerl... Pull the led cards out of the fixture sockets and clean the contacts. A pencil eraser will do the job. Usually one small philips screw is holding them in. Alf

We have had 2 led's do this . I removed the cover , removed the led and closed up the contacts a little put led back in . No more flickering lights .nPat

Thanks heaps, all -- this did the trick. Hardest part was figuring out how to remove the lens!

Help with porch light . It won't work . Removed led and cleaned with pencil eraser . Checked fuses . Nothing . Went to driver side and removed that led and put porch light in . It works . The driver side led won't work in porch when it works on driver side . The problem is the porch light or maybe wiring ? This light pushes in like older car lights . What can I check etc.? It is dark here in the forest . Pat

If you have a multimeter with you then easy to check if power is at the light fixture. If not, might want to put that on the traveling toolbox list for future trips, very handy.
I haven't seen any wiring diagrams anywhere for the trailers, so can't tell you what is fused where, but if no power to the light fixture then I'd check fuses next and if this light has it's own switch I'd test the switch.
You've eliminated the bulb, so just have to track back from the light to find where the power interruption is.

If the fixture can be unscrewed from the body of the trailer you can see if the wires are still connected to the fixture.
If you have checked all of the fuses, this would be my next thing to check.

So, next you would need a meter to tell if power was getting to the wire and then if power was getting past the switch to the socket that the bulb plugs into.

I'm sure you checked this, but make sure BOTH light switches are "on", the one outside on the fixture and the one inside by the door.

Hi: Patandlinda... Our 5.0TA has dual switches on the door side porch light. I find it difficult to know if they are both on. Today I found the fixture switch to be temperamental and required a few flicks before the LED would light. Once it is on it can be turned off by the inside door frame switch.

I did put the harbor free frieight one in trailer . Tomorrow will get it out . Light is on a separate switch . However looked in upper cabinet where I have pre solar and I see the wire I think going out to light in all the wires bundled there . I guess will pull all the fuses in case it is not just in 12 volts lights . Everything else seems to be working . Also when I pulled out led it seems to have gotten water on bulb end . I cleaned it off but still no luck but light is ok . I tried to clean socket too . Pat

Yep there is a switch on bottom that also needs turned on . Pat

Thank you Escape artist . Guess I need to get meter out and do some testing . I am not the smartest when it comes to electrical . I will try all this suggestions . Pat

When we picked up our 5.0 TA, one of the inside LEDs was flickering. If I remember correctly, Reace removed it and wipe or scraped the contacts and said that was the fix when this happens.

If there is no voltage at the bulb socket, I would also check on the other side of the switch too, as it could be faulty. If it did work, it is not likely in the wiring.

Thanks Jim and everyone ! Got the multimeter out and the fixture has power . Led is good , wire looks good . Found after I turned the socket where it attaches to bracket on fixture, light is now working . Water made a little bit corrosion so it was not making a good connection. When I turned it , it cleaned it up a bit . I now need to seal up these fixtures . Found also a little bit corrosion on driver side even though light was working . Happy to have a porch light tonight ! Pat

Now that is one fine piece of road troubleshooting. The multimeter is a very good thing to have with you and saves a lot of time. Awesome that you had it with you.
