Joe,
New member introductions not the best place to post a question like that. More people likely to view it if you start a thread in "problem solving" section. But the answer is no, not too high. I am towing with an F150 and Escape will build to suit the truck. Mine is very high.

I moved it for you Joe. Guess what my new job is?!
BTW: I have a new 2014 Ford F-150,4x4, 6.5 bed. I had to supply the bed rail height to ETI during the build sheet time.
Perfect!

Joe, I have an F150 pulling my 5.0, no problem, it was built in 2007 for a Chev 1/2 ton. As Donna says just let Escape know although knowing them they probably ask what you plan to tow with.

Thanks everyone it was very helpful .
But Donna you brought up a second question.
will a 5-12' bed work ? Will it move the hitch back past the axel ?

Joe, I have a 6-1/2 bed, but the center of my hitch is not dead center over the axle. It is a bit behind the axle. And they make sliding hitches for short bed trucks if you even need one. I suggest you talk to Escape.

Joe - I have the 5-1/2 bed and it works just fine. Only issue, was that getting my hitch here in Tx, no one would fabricate to fit a standard hitch in my truck. I ended up getting a slider hitch, which really isn't necessary. If you are going to BC for pick up, let them mount the hitch.
