Good morning,
Our fridge in our 2010 19' started with the same symptoms near the end of the last camping season. Worked good on propane but not on electric.
The fridge is a Dometic RM2510.2. It is propane and 110 volt electric only.
Initially, when it first started to act up it did not work on electric, I too tested the the outlet that the fridge plugged into. Then tested then 110 volt electric element with an ohm meter at a terminal block after disconnecting the element leads and found the resistance readings it gave to be okay. I then and traced the connections through from the 110 volt outlet to the electric heating element in the chimney flue. Since it worked fine and regulated temperature on propane I was convinced that it was the electric/off/gas switch and not the thermostat. Upon pulling the fridge I found out that the switch and contactors where fine. The problem was the thermostat. This fridge uses a combination propane/110 volt thermostat and it is a typical failure for the electric portion to fail.
Not sure of your model of fridge but this is what I found with ours. The fridge removal, replacing the thermostat, and reinstalling the fridge took me 3-4 hours. The thermostat cost roughly $160.00 dollars Canadian.
The task at the beginning was quite overwhelming especially when you start disassembling components. But in the end was satisfying to repair.
