Front Jack Wheel
Does anyone know who sells a wheel that will fit the electric jack on an Escape 21 ?
I tried the wheel from my Casita and my pontoon trailer but they don’t fit properly due to where the locking pin holes are located

Not sure you would want a wheel in the front, due to the weight. A pad would serve better on the E21 front for stabilizing, the wheel does not.

Maybe he needs the wheel to be able to move his unit around when not in use at home

Good luck with that. I can shift my 17' single-axle trailer some, but only when on a totally smooth concrete pad.
The additional weight of a 21 and the scrubbing action when trying to turn tandem axles will defeat you.
If you do get it to move, good luck stopping it.

Steve: Is the jack an Atwood? They sell the wheel for their marine versions. Maybe this would work?

Hi Steve
Baglo is correct in stating that it is very difficult to roll a tandem axle Escape around. I have a dead flat, power troweled floor in our building and put a wheel on our 19 the first fall we had the building with the intention of cocking it back and forth to put one side close to the wall to give me room to store the boat. Pushing with all I had, I could just roll it a few feet but with four tires the scrub was too much to twist it around. I ended up putting the boat (16 ft John) behind the Escape crossways. I never tried a wheel on the 21 with power jack and put the 19 wheel on a free tarp in Niagara Falls the next year. Good luck on this. It would be nice if you could find one to borrow and try it before you buy one.

I will be parking my Escape in my pole barn which has a concrete floor
I will not be using the wheel when camping .
I need to get my pontoon boat in the pole barn as well as my Escape so will require some jockeying ( Either boat or trailer or both )
I’ve got help this weekend so going to give it a try !!

I can't help with the jack wheel source - hopefully Dave's suggestion will work out - but I do have a suggestion for turning the trailer: let the tongue down as much as possible to transfer load from the trailing axle to the leading axle... then with any luck the trailing axle's tires will skid around making turning easier. Lowering will be limited by the wheel; if it won't go low enough you could try raising the tongue to shift the load to the trailing axle, but that would put a lot of load on the jack wheel, which then won't roll easily.

With a few helpers and a wheel it’s probably doable. Perhaps a dolly with four casters on it and the jack pipe on a solid 2x 4 or 2,x 6 deck on the dolly would work as well as the wheel?
Even a big floor jack with plenty of base spread might do it too. A tractor with a hitch on the three point, even better. Easy does it.

I've shuffled cars around a garage with a floor jack under the front - it can work.
The obvious trailer-specific alternative is a trailer dolly with a ball, which gives you steering control and a handle to pull or push with.
There's still the issue of the tires on the tandem axles fighting each other; the four-wheel dollies (or "skates") under all four tires or under just one pair of tires (the others hanging unloaded) can fix that. Or you just do what they do in the factory: remove one pair of wheels for the maneuvering (but put them back on for storage).

Lowering the front end or four dollies or taking off two tires all good ideas. Don’t screw up and use the Bohemie logic and take both tires off one side. You’ll get it.

I thought I wanted a wheel on the manual jack of my 19 and when I had one I could not move the trailer side to side even an inch. Just too heavy. When I noticed that if I left that swivel wheel on it prevented the tongue from nesting in the safety chains should it become un-hitched while on the road. This convinced me a swivel wheel is a bad idea.

Dave,
As of 2015 (birth year of our Escape), my understanding from ETI and also the company in eastern Oregon that sells the Jack-E-Up, was that the base plate and the tube diameter were the same for both manual and electric jacks; (that size wheel was sufficient for all 1st Gen. Escape tongue weights). {I'm glad I thought to at least show and put in dimensions. Whew!}
Is there a larger one, now, for the new, improved, and heavier 2nd Gen's?

Don: You are probably right about the diameter. I was referring more to the locking pin hole alignment that Steve indicated is an issue with other wheels he tried in his original post. That is why I was offering that the Atwood wheel may be the best chance to fit his (presumably) Atwood jack. Hopefully he gets it worked out.
