Front storage box questions/ request.
we have a 2012 19 foot Escape and I am thinking of adding the f/g storage box to the rig. I know it involves some welding and possibly moving the propane tanks.
Has anyone done this project? Wondering why the propane tanks are in the way?
Also what is the inside dimensions of the box? I have a 12" deep BBQ I'd like to fit in there!
could someone take a few pictures of the box showing more details. All the pics I have found are just the front. No shots of the top open and inside.
TIA
steve

I had it done at the factory three years ago and love it. Cost $850CDN at that time. They reorient the propane tanks laterally. The 12" BBQ might fit if you are only putting a single battery inside, not sure it'll fit if you have the twin 6s.

Bruce1- what do you mean reorient the tanks laterally? all the pics I see the tanks are in the original position?
Thanks for the pics Bruce-2! the box is prolly the same on both 21 and 19 I would assume?

I have seen pictures of older models where the tanks were north south. I think.
The dimensions issue I can't help you with.

If the box is the same, the pics of a 21 and 19 should be a little different as the 19 is about 6 inches less in width. Just call/email Escape and ask.

The original orientations of dual propane tanks was one ahead of the other, or along the longitudinal centreline of the trailer (or as Bruce says, "north south"). To accommodate the box, the tanks need to be mounted side-by-side (or as Bruce says, "laterally")... and far enough forward to clear the box, which puts them overhanging the sides of the tongue structure.
For quite a while, all models have been built with the dual tanks side-by-side to accommodate the box, even if the trailer was not ordered with the box. Steve, I believe that your 2012 would have the tanks already in the right position to fit the box... but I don't know about mounting structure.

On my 2008 17B the tanks ran North/South.
Reace relocated them East/West so I could use the hard tank cover. That involved some cutting and welding.

A 19 is four inches wider than previous models.
A 21 or a 5.0TA is four inches wider than a 19.
The box dimensions and fit to various models has been discussed before, but I'm still not sure how many sizes of box there are.

yes our tanks are already E/W. assuming the width might change but the N/S depth measurement would prolly be the same. I do have a letter to Tammy confirming. Thanks ALL!

More pix. Here's a 17B. I presume ETI left enough room for a storage box when they turned the tanks.

Not sure if I had ever mentioned it but those pictures were priceless to me when you posted them originally. Thanks so much for taking the time to take the pictures.
