Ft. Langley Egg meet

Anyone going to the Fort Langley meet? I'll be there. With a canoe. (good paddling on the channel)

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

Lisa (my wife) and I will be there. (the same day we pick up our trailer)
Ian and Sandy (Eddys)will be there. (they are picking up their trailer then too, and will be sharing our site)
Of course Reace and Tammy will be there too.
I think Anna-Marie (amirie) will be close by as well.

I would love to bring one of my canoes, but I imagine I will have a full load to bring to stock the trailer, but we'll see.

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

I think it's May 9th weekend (I'll check) at the Fort Langley Campground. There'll be lots of folks there, apparently all the reserved sites are full.

Come down - bring the canoe.

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

I know of one pull through site that they allow 2 units on that would gladly share a spot with someone. Kevin Johnston is his name, he is right by me and only has a 13' Boler. If desired, you could contact him on FGRV, or I have his email addy and phone number if needed.

I really would like to bring a canoe, and will have to see if I can get one on top, along with the carrier I will likely be using. I assume the river is quite flat and slow there? If I can even fit a canoe on, I would like to bring my tripping boat, as opposed to my prospector.

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

the channel is flat and slow for sure - the rowers use it (so it's calm).

I've paddled around the island before (1-2 hour trip) and paddled up the shoreline to a little creek to explore. I'll have a solo 14' Prospector and possible access to a tandem (although not sure yet).

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

I think they would rent a canoe there, though it would likely be a Coleman tub, or something indestructible like that. I guess weight is not really an issue, as we won't be loaded with gear. Our Hellman Prospector is a great tough boat, and not too bad speed wise when not loaded up, but our 17-6 Swift Winnona, at 40 lbs is fast, and a pleasure to paddle, even loaded. It is not near as maneuverable though, and I would not take it on anything above a Class I rapid.

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

I just checked, and there is canoe and kayak rentals for sure. The canoe in the photo they have is a Robins egg blue Clipper, though that could just be their poser boat.

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

I'm not sure if there's a schedule for the event besides the campfire and potluck. Is anyone interested in an "Escape'rs pancake breakfast" on Sunday morning? It would be great to put faces to all the names we've seen on the board.

Pancakes with syrup, whipped cream, fruit, etc...

I can make the pancakes. We just need some juice and fruit and syrup. mmmmm (hungry already)

Who's interested?

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

I'll bring the shooters.

What about doing it Saturday, it might be a better to get to meet each other even earlier, though I imagine most will be there on Friday. I should be there by late afternoon.

Either way, I'm in. Great idea Dirk.

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

Groovy - so how about Saturday morning? (Glenn, can you make it out before the wedding?)

All I need to know is numbers - I'll make the pancakes (Dad's bbq pancake recipe). All we need is Guiness, shooters, fruit, and syrup. Sausages? Bacon?

Who's in?

I will start a list of names, site number, and what we will bring. Everyone who is in can then just copy the list and add their own names and info to the list.
What time do you all want to do this at? Should we make it brunch time (10AM)? You definitely all don't want to do it when I get up, as I am a real early riser. I would be more then willing to do whatever time others like. I would like to save a good chunk of the day to go paddling, or something.

FORT LANGLEY GLASS EGG MEET - ESCAPEE'S BREAKFAST GANG
Jim & Lisa - Chinook 23A - Sausage (probably with a bit of zing)

(I vote 9:00 - would also like to paddle - but flexible with time)

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

Dirk, is that fluff you refer to a result of the beer from the night before?
Oh yeah, guys are to call it farting, only girls are supposed to fluff.

Re: Ft. Langley Egg meet

10:00 sounds good. It will be Doug and I.....

I will bring some fruit salad...

I am going to try to come Friday night---I will try to work a dayshift and will pick Doug up after work and we will make it out there after 6 probably.

You can't request a certain site and you have to book for two nights minimum.... So rather than make Doug come out on his own and me walk in about midnight, I'll see what my work partner will do for me!!!!!

Sounds like a good time.
I have told them the area I would like to be is Eagle sites 10-16....so we'll see what they do...

Quite looking forward to this.
We NEED good weather....

Updating

FORT LANGLEY GLASS EGG MEET - ESCAPEE'S BREAKFAST GANG
Jim & Lisa - Chinook 23A - Sausage (probably with a bit of zing)
Dirk - (not sure which site yet) - Pancakes (probably with a bit of fluff)
Anna-Marie and Doug - (not sure which site yet) - Fruit salad

I would say that shooting for 9:00 start would be best, especially if everyone is staying there. It will likely take a while to all get fed up if everyone joins in.
