Generator maintenance
I read somewhere that you should run your generator about once a month over the off-season. Which is what I'm doing now since B.C. lost the football game when they stepped on the field. Question is, should I be using an additive to keep the gas from gumming up, even if I exercise it regularly?

Re: Generator maintenance
BC was winning the game for the first wee bit. Montreal is on fire though, if they continue to play like that, nobody is going to beat them.
Next up, Stamps vs Riders.

Hi Glenn
I run stabilizer in all my fuel for generators, lawnmowers
chainsaws, snowblowers and so forth. Then if you put it
away with a half a tank its OK next time you use it.

Re: Generator maintenance
I use stabilizer for all stored gas. Briggs & Stratton makes really good stuff. Modern gas with alcohol as an additive really needs it.

Re: Generator maintenance
I've got a Stihl additive, but I thought maybe it was for two-cycle engines ( and truth is I don't know if the Honda 1000 is 2 or 4 cycle ). So,I should be OK with that?

Re: Generator maintenance
Glenn your Honda is 4 cycle, read the additive label carefully
you don't want to add 2 cycle oil to the fuel.

Re: Generator maintenance
The Stihl additive you are referring to is just an oil to lubricate and cool a 2-cycle engine, the Honda generators are 4 cycle. Fuel stabilizer and two cycle engine oil are not the same things, you can use Stable in your 4 cycle Honda.
