Good Companies

I had a couple of minor systems fail on my last trip. My Tire Traker monitor started getting cranky on the main function button, needing multiple pushes to get it to work. When I got home I emailed them, and had a response in an hour. The replacement unit was in the mail the next day. Got it quickly, programmed it and it works fine. It was still under warranty.

Also my Maxxfan started to go -- the airflow direction would only work on outflow. A call to Maxxair when I got home got me to the engineer, who diagnosed it as a bad PCB board. He mailed me a replacement (V.2, no less) free of charge, even though I was a year out of warranty. It is a bit of work to change out the board, but it went smoothly due to good printed directions that came with it. (Hmmm.... printed directions with photos... they must have a number of the V.1 boards failing. But, they're doing the right thing to rectify the problem)

Bruce, I like that Tire Trakker so much. It is the handiest thing to be going down the road and think that something might have gone wrong with a tire and you can check it without stopping. Or, just checking them all including the temperatures just for the heck of it.

We did have one false alarm which I think someone else also had. A reading said that a tire was leaking air. We decided not to do anything about it as we had just arrived at our campsite. We took a couple of other readings in the next few minutes and it said the same thing. A while later though, it was reading no problem. In the morning, no problem. We don't know what that was about but all was clear after that.

We did get good service when we had to exchange a sensor.

Was it warm when you arrived? I had the same thing happen once on a warm day, same result -- it went away quickly.

We had a problem with our Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller. On Friday May 4 this year I wrote to Tekonsha and explained the problem. On Tuesday May 8 they wrote to tell me that they would replace the controller at no cost with a new controller and that I did not need to return the old controller, and on May 15 the new controller arrived. I think that was good service too!

It indicated "0.0" whether the engine was running or not, and did not go out after 15 minutes of no activity. It indicated voltage when the brake was depressed, whether the trailer was connected or not.

Bruce, yes!, the Traker showed the false alarm when it was hot. In fact, we had come south from a cooler area into a very hot one. So you must have somehow known that that was the reason. I would have never thought of that. Thanks.
