Head-banging

I managed to whack my forehead on the edge of the cabinet that is on the door side, over the small dinette, in my 15. Any good ideas for cushioning the corner of a small overhead cabinet?

We have something similar on the corners of the range hood.

Any children's store has rubber pads and sometimes children's departments.

Cool. Where are they? I'm about half a mile as the crow flies from where the big fire was this morning. (Arson, two houses went up.)

My head is always getting banged, hit, or scraped on something. I just try to avoid doing so, and wear the scars of distance misjudgment with pride.

My "baby bumpers" were installed at my wife's insistence Jim. She got a nasty bump on her forehead.

On the overhead fan over the stove correct? When I was putting our build sheet together I went back and forth about getting it. I knew I'd bump my head on it at some point and commented on that. Boy, did I get some big time comments about how nobody ever does that and how I was crazy to think that. Okay, paraphrasing, but basically certain long time forum members bitched about my comment.

So, bummer it's happened to your wife, but good to know that someone has actually bumped their head on it. And that I wasn't crazy to think that way. This is something I need to install eventually. Glad this thread came up as a reminder of that fact.

It wasn't crazy. The "issue" is that the range hood is slightly lower than in a home application, and the counter isn't as deep. That places the range hood front closer to your head when cooking. The front edge isn't really a hazard however as much as the corners.

Provided you're aware of it, there's no problem, but as often happens, we are used to doing things a certain way, and we don't think about the difference. Sure enough, my wife is cooking away and reached for something toward the rear of the counter and "wham". She had a nice dollar sized welt on her forehead.

The foam protectors were an easy fix. (Well, that and some ice on her forehead) Ironically, she's never come close to hitting her head again. Once bitten...

Easy fix

I picked up a pack of baby bumpers at Babies R Us after a couple of similar head whacks. Easy install, visually unobtrusive.

I've never thought about them on the ends of the cabinets Bruce. I like that they're clear.

The cabinets were changed. We had bumpers on corners of cabinets also but Escape then rounded the corners.

We have some rubber stripping along the cabinets on driver's side of the 21' bed but the stripping is not nearly as thick as bumpers we have used.

I can probably order some from Amazon unless they have them at the hardware store. (No big box stores here.)
