Help me Please! How does the inverter work?
I'm currently on a short trip with my best friend and I'm stumped. I have a 1500W Inverter that runs while we are plugged into shore power. If it makes any difference, we also have solar. Am I running the trailer off the battery instead of shore power?
When I run the coffee maker or microwave, the inververter is on and huming. We did watch TV this morning and the inverter didn't turn on. When I turn the switch on/off on the back of the inverter and it still runs. Is there something on the front panel I should manage? I am stumped and I know my fellow Escape owners would know what I need to do.

Turn the inverter off when you are on shore power, you do not need it on to have AC power. When no shore power is available, you only need to turn on the inverter if you require AC power for your electric toothbrush or some other device. You can turn it off when it is not required.

Thank you Dave! Such a quick reply. How do I turn it off? I think it is at the rear of the unit and it stays on in the off and on position. Do I need to wait a while for it to kick in? Or, is the on/off on the front panel somehow?

You have the Samlex SSW-R1-12B inverter remote control shown presumably paired with a Samlex SSW-1500-12A inverter. You need to have the inverter turned OFF on the inverter unit itself and then just use the remote for ON/OFF when needed. See specifics attached.

Since you are using the remote panel for the inverter, always leave the switch on the inverter in the OFF position. Switch the inverter on and off using the push button on the remote. If the remote screen is lit up bright green, then the inverter is on.
As stated, only turn the inverter on when not hooked up to shore power, and you are using an appliance plugged into an AC outlet.
Looks like you got 3 other replies in the time it took me to find the manual.

See attached pic for on/off switch if you have the SSW-1500-12A inverter. "O" or toggled down towards the bottom of the unit is OFF.

That on/off button does take a medium amount of pressure. More than, say, an I-phone. You should hear and feel a click.
Also, not all inverters feed all your outlets. Sometimes it might just supply one outlet.
None of this applies if you have shore power.
If you need to try the inverter out, unplug the shore power at the outside post, and try out your inverter.
Sometimes people hear a humming sound when they first plug in shore power. This could be the converter, which is just a large battery charger which uses the shore power to top off your house battery or batteries. The converter works automatically.

OK, this works now.  When I turned it off while the inverter was running, but with panel in front still on on, it continued to hum. Thank you everyone for your quick and speedy responses! You are so helpful and usually I like to figure things out. But I was stumped.

The TV uses very little power compared to a coffee maker or microwave oven, so if the inverter was powering other appliances it was probably powering the TV, too, and you just didn't notice the humming.

The inverter remote issue has come up here before Lorna, so don't feel bad. Just keep the switch on the inverter in the off position and use only the remote when the inverter is needed. Also be aware there is a bit of a delay when you turn it on before AC power is supplied to the outlets.
Of course, as others have mentioned, the inverter is irrelevant with shore power.
