Robert not with our 26 year Honda gen . We have to bypass the surge. . I don't know why but I plug in the little plug in a receptacle anyway and leave it there . Pat

Another, more expensive option, is to buy the industrial EB2200i which has a bonded neutral. I would just do the gen plug, but just throwing this out there since it exists. Losing the DC charging port is probably not a big loss for most people.

Kate - It is very easy to make your own plug, I'm sure you would have no trouble. However it is available to purchase: https://rvpartssource.com/southwire-44400

Mike is right, it's very easy to make. After making mine, I was slightly embarrassed that I tried to buy it before I tried to make it.

IMO, save a few bucks and make one.

Using a generator I have to put the switch to bypass. On shore power on the grid you do not have to by-pass it.

I called Progressive about this issue, (using two EU2000i Honda gens and getting E2 error message), the tech guy said OK to use bypass switch, still have surge protection, bonded neutral plug is work around to fool the EMS.

I did some research, I'm very light on electrical stuff, so doing anything to modify how my Honda Gens are connected to trailer is questionable to me. The more I looked, the more confusing it was. In short, the "experts" don't agree.
So, I'm going with the bypass switch.

These Honda generators are designed and made to be used with RV's, and Honda is know for quality. Electricity from Honda gen may be the most reliable electricity your trailer ever gets. Best I can tell, you don't need a surge protector for your generator, so bypassing EMS seems easier/ better solution to me.

I already had one EU2000i gen I used for my Casita, and it worked great, weighs approx 45 lbs, not easy to move, but OK for me. I use the A/C all night from time to time at my place with no electricity. After doing some research on what to do to run Escape 21 A/C, it seemed easiest to get the companion gen and go with 2 gens wired together. Have used it a few times, works great.

I had an on the post Progressive model on my Camplite and used the Honda generator. After my previous post on this topic I liked up my notes. I used the bypass and it worked fine. I could run my air in one generator, although I do not use it much. The twins should do a great job. Enjoy !
