Hot water tank not working on electric

Been on a two month trip, we have a two way H20 tank- have been using electric all along no problem.
Then last night no hot water while on electric. Checked breakers all OK - but no hot water.
Decided to try it on propane - working fine.
Any ideas as to the problem while on the electric mode? What can we try?

Has there always been water in the tank? And, has the switch on the tank always been on?

I ask this, as I fried my heater element by inadvertently having it on with an empty tank. This is one thing that prompted me to put a switch inside with an indicator lamp for when it is on.

Other than that, I would just suggest checking the switch, maybe operating it a time or two, and check the connections on the element. If all looks good, with the switch on, check the voltage on the connections of the element, and if there is 120V there, the element is likely not working. If no voltage there, it must be with something ahead of there, which really can only be the switch, or breaker or their connections.

Ok appears to be the switch- we never really figured out had to "Reset".
Has anyone had to replace the switch? We know it is a plug in, but itwe are worried about pulling it out if it is attached to the wires, - appears to be no length on the wires- and then not being able to get it back in.
Anyone have any ideas? It is a suburban.

I just did a search Chapi, and found out from this video that you can easily pry the switch out, then replace it.

We watched that video but he doesn't show when he's taking it out, we tried prying it out, but it didn't come out easily. We are a bit worried about the wires, if they are too short and we get the switch out, we may loose the wires down behind the plate, then have to take water tank out from the inside to get at it.
Any thoughts?
