How thick is the floor in an Escape trailer?

To keep Patti's rolling storage containers from rolling and sliding about, I need to attach 1x2 or maybe 2x2 wood strips to the storage compartment floor under the bed in our Escape 19. How thick is the plywood floor. I don't want to send a screw through the plywood and into the fresh water tank.

Hey Rich
Try silicone gluing the slats down instead of screwing them down. When you want to remove the slats, slide a flexible steel cake spatula between the floor and the slat. Then clean up glue with GooGone.

Re: How thick is the floor in an Escape trailer?

I thought about using glue rather than screws, but didn't want the strips to be so strongly bonded that someone owning the trailer down the road couldn't remove them without doing damage to the floor if they didn't suit THEIR needs. The force of the containers as they slide is lateral, rather than vertical, so a weaker removable glue might work. I'll have to give it some thought. Thanks for the input.

Has anyone tried a tension rod for that purpose? I've contemplated trying one.

I know I used a tension rod in the Boler for that purpose and it wasn't the best idea as it cracked the fiberglass of the cupboard area.....Not enough "give"

Hi: macknet... I believe the sub floor is 3/4" exterior grade plywood. Check with Reace to be sure. If you attach the 1X2 slats to the floor near the side walls of the trailer you should be over the drainage pontoons not the water tank. Again ask Reace!!!
What about using some kind of cut to fit nonskid mat on the vinyl flooring that could be removed later? Alf

Re: How thick is the floor in an Escape trailer?

Jeff! That's what I do at home, though my home only occasionally moves... But I vowed I'd keep the Escape less cluttered.

I bought a large (about 18" x 45") plastic storage container at Target. No wheels. The removable top is hinged in the middle, so you can lift just one side. I used some vinyl utility tape to tape some of the non-stick stuff that I have in the cupboards on the bottom of the container. That way I didn't have to do anything at all to the floor. When I want to pull the container out, I just barely lift up the front where the non-skid stuff is and it slides right out.
