Ice/cold

On our 21 I was concerned about some 28 to 30 degree weather at night and the only spot that worried me was a tube that goes from fresh water up through the floor. I wrapped it with foam pipe insulation and I was set for the night or two we had chilly weather.

Despite this continuing wave of real cold weather and not having the under carriage insulation the trailer though not yet winterized has not suffered, faucet excepted. By the way, my glue job on it has held.
The foam backer rod helped close the gaps around my door but I was always chasing new gaps or replacing backer rod that had fallen out. Several months ago I removed all the backer rod and added EPDM Rubber Window Weather Strip (MD Building Products #1033) around the perimeter of the door with one edge just under the door seal. So far, it's worked great for sealing those annoying gaps.

About a year ago Scamp had a custom weatherstrip built for their doors. I ordered and put it on my Scamp 19 and it is fantastic. Has been a long running issue with Scamps and seems to be a really nice solution. It's around $25 to order, has gorilla glue backing and once stuck it is on until it wears out.
I'm going to have to take a look when I'm at storage and see if it could work for Escapes. It is so robust most Scamp Owners are having to shim older trailer doors to get them aligned with the new strip and they are tight when closed. Door seal is not a current problem on my trailer, but will need replacement at some point.

Myron

Are you running a test to see how long you can go before damaging something without winterizing?

The weather stripping applied adjacent to the existing door seal, front edge of door, just above the latch area.

That would be fun! Already trying to figure out how many hookups to plan for. I have friends with other RVs saying they'll pay for an outlet for them.
