Indicators solar, battery

Where are the solar and battery indicators typically mounted in the 21' model

Solar is on face of dinette bench, passenger side. Battery and tank monitor is above refrigerator.

On the 5.ota we have the solar cntrllr mounted above the fridge. Best spot no standing on head to read it.
it was suggested by escape.

Solar location inside new Escape 21'

Look at the pictures on my post #2121 on the "It's Friday!" thread. There are three different things mounted just above the refrigerator. We have the solar package and I think one of them must be the solar controls and/or indicators. I have attached the picture with the best view of the controls here too. TimTex

They may have moved the solar. Also, we have the EMS monitor above the fridge.

Did you request the solar panel up there? Usually the closer to the battery it's located, the more accurate it is with a bit better performance.

Our solar monitor is near the batteries in the bench.

We find that the battery cells are low even though we picked up last month and we are trying to figure out how to get to all of them.

Controls

It is interesting that my 21' trailer to be pickup up 11 days from now has three control/monitor boxes above the fridge whereas Cmellon's 21' that he picked up yesterday has four. I wonder what the difference is? Maybe some of the functions combined, or my water heater switch is elsewhere? Also, what appears to be the tank level indicator (the one in the middle on my trailer) looks different. Hmm - we will find out soon. TimTex

Yes, your water heater switch and light is elsewhere, assuming you ordered such a light which I think is an extra little charge?

No that was the factory location.

Yes we did. And when we got home and plugged into power at our house, we encountered reverse polarity from one of our outlets so was glad to have the surge protector.

On our 19, read outs for whatever device are located in several places throughout the interior. I suppose it would be ok to have them all side by side but once I got used to where they are, I just naturally look in the "right" place to learn what I want to know at the minute. Which is about as long as my feeble mind stays on any one subject. Like the library, you just have to know where to look.

We like the surge protector as it gives out a constanr voltage reading. It goes up it goes down. Interesting to see the fluctuations.

In order to have my 21' setup with an access hatch for future external solar panel connections, ETI is having to move the charge controller to under the curb side dinette seat from above the refrigerator. I want to use a single controller and not multiple ones in parallel. It sounds like that is where the controller used to be. I too question the distance of the charge controller from the batteries when it is put above the fridge. Any thoughts on this? ETI hasn't moved the batteries to the street side have they? Was that where furnace used to be? Maybe that took advantage of that.

The distance between the charge controller and the batteries is purely dependant on the size of the wire used. Useca larger wire diameter and locate it above fridge.

Thanks Ken and Cathy for the quick replies. Ken, what you say is true about the wire gauge. I wonder if Reace upped the wire size when he moved the controller? The distance from the controller to the batteries changed dramatically ( a couple feet to 10+) with the relocation of the controller on the 21's. It is nice to have the display up high, but from my reading if there was even 5% increase in resistance the charge rate will have dropped substantially. I haven't have time to confirm this (this is from one of the other solar threads).
