Disclaimer: Internal fridge fans may help maintain uniform temperatures, but do not appear to significantly improve operation in hot weather. This is NOT a fix for the Dometic 8 series issues.
I think the Fridge Fix fan blows too much air around. I have rewired mine so the fans are in series, instead of parallel. The LEDs still work and the fans run more slowly. (And it will use less power.) I have not decided whether or not to re-install it.
The small 2 D-cell fan I have been using seems to be adequate. Keeping stuff on the top shelf away from the fins also seems to help.
AND (red face) I have figured out why the batteries in my AccuRite fridge/freezer sensors don't fit right. The monitor uses AAA batteries, the sensors use AAs.
1) remove black end caps
2) remove cord strain relief (if necessary)
3) unscrew fan/blade guard screws
4) unclip black wire to fuse
5) remove the fans and wires
6) red power wire is connected to both yellow fan wires, black ground wire (from fuse) is connected to both black fan wires via a 4 pin connector (using only 2 of the pins)
7) cut all wires at the back of the 4 pin connector
8) connect red power to 1 fan yellow wire: red + TO fan1 yellow
9) connect same fan black wire to other fan yellow wire: fan 1 black TO fan 2 yellow
10) connect other fan black wire to black ground wire: fan 2 black TO black - (to fuse)
11) reverse steps 5 through 1
Doug, I also rewired the fix fan in series, hoping to slow the air down. I believe I have less air flow as I had with one computer fan tied to a shelf. Since this change I have only been in moderate temps, 60 at night, 80 during the day so the fridge worked fine on 3 to 4 bars with no fans running. The fix fan does appear to help with the defrosting and it is out of the way on the 6.7.
