Jack Antenna Won't Turn

It hasn't turned freely since we first bought the trailer last June, but I never messed with it to try to find out what was wrong until this week. I found that if I remove the plastic turning and locking knob, I can then turn the antenna about three-fourths of the way around without any problem, by simply turning the metal shaft; but then it isn't locked in place unless I screw the plastic knob back on. Replacing the plastic locking knob seems to push the metal shaft up, and, once again, makes it almost impossible to rotate the antenna. Any ideas about how I might go about fixing the problem?

Did notice the latching thingy on the plastic knob? You have to push that in to turn the handle. Might just be a bad knob if that won't push in enough.

I did notice the plastic button that must be pressed to release the knob, but it didn't help.
Yes, I think a note to Reace is probably called for.
