Leak in furnace vent.

Has anyone experienced a leak from the furnace vent?

I've found pooled water in the back of the cupboard underneath the furnace and traced it to the furnace vent. At the bottom of the vent I could see light from the inside of the trailer through a crack. I drilled out the rivets and eased the vent away from the fibreglass wall and recaulked the vent with butyl and attached new rivets but I still have a leak. It seems that in a driving rain (which we have had lots of lately) water is still getting in. I'm wondering if water is getting into the air box assembly around the chimney and seeping
in through a crack in it. Has anyone taken one of these apart or indeed know if it can be taken apart. The following PDF link http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/hflamefurn04.pdf shows an exploded view of the heater on page 39.

Any help would be appreciated.

I found a installation guide on the Internet which showed that the chimney and cold air duct can indeed be taken apart from outside the trailer. I took it apart and resealed with butyl and then bolted the whole thing together with stainless steel 10-32 bolts as I found rivets were not drawing the chimney onto the fibreglass sufficiently.

Hi: barry...Sounds like a good solution. Hopefully the metal of the chimney vent won't react with the S/S bolts. On the aluminium windows of our former Boler I had to use nylon washers to isolate the bolt heads from the frames. Alf
