Leveling single axle (side to side)

I've hardly ever had to level side to side but I think I'm going to have to- I do have a BAL leveler and if I find the crank for it I'll take that, but when I moved pretty sure it ended up in a different location than the leveler itself did. So assuming I can't find it- what do you recommend for leveling?

I thought the BAL leveler operated with a stud shaped like a nut. If I am correct, a socket wrench should work.

These are good. Andersen also makes one, but we don't like those bums anymore.

Leveling blocks are also good.

Find them at many retailers.

I don't get the two part thing. How do you get the black one under if the trailer is on the yellow one? How do you adjust?

I believe your stabilizer tool will fit the B@L and it may be a 6 sided 7/8" socket...

You put the yellow part in front of the wheel, narrow end toward the tire. Then pull forward gently so the tire rides up, lifting the narrow end as it goes. When the trailer is level place the black part under the yellow one to hold it up. Some people prefer to back onto the yellow part.

My BAL leveler came with a cheap Chinese ratcheting box wrench.
It broke the second time out . I now use a ratchet and a deep well 6 point socket .

Anderson Leveler

I have had one for three years now, just sold my 17 and boiught another for my new 5.0 TA. I found these to be easy to use and very light. I can use it with one hand.

Many folks love the bal but I've not one of them. It's big, heavy and greasy. It has to be stowed somewhere. I've had my red wedge for a couple years, and I love it. For a single person it's so easy.

I'm one of those people who love the BAL. I used one on my Scamp for years, bought Ten Forward and now have TWO. I don't find them the least bit big, heavy OR greasy. But, I still need to buy a Pizza bag for the second one.

My experience is exactly the same as yours .
I know when my trailer is locked into the BAL that it is not going to roll around .

The Andersen wedge requires 2 people, one in the tow and one putting down the wedge, whereas the B@l is/was always a one person chore.

I put two in alone all the time.

yeah, me too. I back onto the large one. set parking brake, hop out, check, hop back in and go forwards or backwards another couple inches or whatever and repeat til I'm happy, then kick in the small wedge to lock it in place... then I put the tug in neutral and release the brake and let it find its happy place, THEN parking brake back on, and do the nose jack thing to unhitch, scootch vehicle out of the way, then do the front-rear level with the nose jack.

With the Anderson & one person, I hang a large level from the front window of my 19 and move forward or back until the ball is centered in the car mirror. Gets me right on first try every time.

How do you know when to stop backing up on the wedge? A spotter would certainly help. I know Jasper is smart but.......

I think it is the screw thing that is missing off the BAL but I need to check and it isn't at my house right now. I might have found it and put it where it should be- not likely, though.

I just make a pyramid out of as many lynx blocks as necessary. Once, I had to dig a hole for the opposite tire.
