License Plate and Slinky Holder

Well we had no problem registering the Escape today at the California DMV, aside from giving them over $2,100 in sales tax and registration fees! Along with the forms Tammy provided, we printed off the web and brought in an Application for Title or Registration (Form REG 343), with the front (page 1) completed by us and the back (page 2) left blank for DMV to complete. The trailer was inspected for the VIN and we got our license plates and tags right then.

The problem now is that the license plate and slinky holder cannot exist simultaneously in their original locations. So the question is, did you relocate your slinky holder? If so, where is it now? At first, my husband thought he could put the holder underneath the bumper but decided it would get torn off the first time we negotiated a steep curb.

I know that some are opting to use the Sewer Solution, but we're not leaning that way right now.

Thanks!

I've not moved anything. Wondering why you have to move it? Maybe a picture?

I guess they don't like that it is on an angle because of the slinky tube. Could you not just move the tube over to the right some?

Re: License Plate and Slinky Holder

I guess now that you put it that way... It can fit, just with the plate set at an angle. My husband had taken off the slinky holder before I tried the license plate because he doesn't like the location...

Re: License Plate and Slinky Holder

I agree that the bent plate is not ideal. I am going to try and move the slinky holder to the right enough to clear the plate. Looking at it, it won't be an easy move.

Re: License Plate and Slinky Holder

What about a stand-off to move the top of the plate farther from the trailer body?

Those are both options worth considering. Thanks

Re: License Plate and Slinky Holder

You would need to move the plate light out then too.

Re: License Plate and Slinky Holder

Other than the wait, there was no problem with California DMV. The inspector rated it as a camper trailer for a permanent trailer license. Because the title paper did not have a watermark, it was noted, but apparently it was good enough for the inside folks. My clerk was very helpful. I had had an appointment, but did not want to keep driving or park without a plate, so I just went to an outlying office. My son attached the license using rubber washers to lessen the angle and still keep it under the light.
