light on remote reset switch for hot water heater

The remote reset switch light for water heater does not work. Any suggestions for easy fix? Thanks, Marilyn

I am a bit confused what you are referring to as a remote reset switch light, Marilyn. Is this the light that goes on while the water heater is firing up while lighting?

Do you mean that the propane for the water heater does not come on when you turn it on? Or do you mean that the light does not come on to show that the propane is on?

Just the light on the switch doesn't turn on, when water heater is trying to start. The water heater does come on, just no light when it is firing up.

I would look to get it replaced then, which is a very simple thing to do. That light is a safety indicator, letting you know that ignition is happening, and when it goes out that it did light.

I could see this being one of three things:
-Indicator light bulb burned out
-A wire between the module and the light has come off
-The module board is no longer sending the signal properly

Could rule some of these out with some simple troubleshooting with a multimeter, but if you want to try replacing the switch/light assembly it is Suburban part # 232589. This works for both the SW6D (propane only) and SW6DE (propane and electric) models.

Good thought to first check to see if a wire is loose, they just use spade connectors. If the light it out, it might be tough to find a replacement.

Depending on when in 2015 you picked up your trailer, you might still be under warranty. But before anything, I'd second Jim, and unscrew it and look for a wire that might have come loose.

I know some of us here have at least a few screws loose....

Although only a 2015, if I recall correctly Marilyn and Kip bought their trailer from the original owner. Is the 2 year warranty from ETI transferable?

If you want one that has a lighted on/off switch,

Or just replace the switch with an illuminated one yourself. This is just an example...I'm not sure this fits the exact cutout size of the suburban switch plate. Granted this takes some of your own wiring where the LHC solution is plug and play.

Wow, so many choices, thank you all so much. Just got back from another skin biopsy, so will be putting my leg up and taking it easy through the evening. Kip will be looking at all the choices you laid out for us. Soon as I get my stitches out in 3 weeks, will hope to be able to leave and head up on the Mogollion Rim for our first trip. Have been reading about the streams outside of Santa Fe, hope to go there in May. Such fun, we are all very blessed to be able to do this. Marilyn
