Kate, in order to get the cushions to lie flat, you have to first leave the two outside cushions against the trailer's walls flat. Then, place the center two cushions in an inverted "V" and then push both down from the center with a hand on both cushions. This should lock them in. Learned this trick from Dave during our orientation. Hope this makes sense.
