Maxx Fan cover cracked

The cover on my Maxx fan has been cracked. Does anyone know if it is possible to just replace the cover?

Thanks, KIm

Earlier this year I noticed cracks (maybe 1 1/2") at the outermost hinge rivets on either side of my Maxxfan cover. I had some gel superglue, so I got up on a ladder and used a toothpick to work the glue into and over the cracks, like weld joints. So far they're holding really well, so I plan on picking up a can of matching spray paint in the spring to do a paint-over.

I replaced the cover on my MaxxFan on my Escape 19, took maybe 15 minutes. The cover has a lifetime warranty, so they should send one gratis. A ladder is needed with someone on the ground for assistance, a phillips screw driver is all is what you need.

Remember, you can lock the Maxxfan cover in position. Traveling with it unlocked allows it to bounce up and down ( as pointed out to me by my buddy following behind ). That might be the cause of cracks.

I've been in contact with Airxcel. The cover, like the rest of the unit, only has a 2 year warranty. I'm sticking with my plan A, gel superglue and paint.

Replacing fan

Thanks everyone. Turns out the metal piece that lifts the lid is severed, so a new one is needed.

I guess since Airxcel has been taken over by Dometic their warranties have changed but the website for the deluxe model states 2-YEAR Limited WARRANTY with LIFETIME Limited Warranty on the lid
perhaps another reason to go with the deluxe option. However the picture shows the stock opaque cover on the deluxe, so there are 2 deluxe models, one with opaque cover and one with smoke and both have the remote.

Just wanted to update this thread with my experience. My 2009 white 5100K Maxxfan lid was badly cracked in several places. I called Donna's number above and they were very helpful, and are sending out a replacement lid at no charge.

When I replaced my stock lid with the smoke lid I kept the original cover, in the garage, as a backup.

Death from above

Hi Alf:
In our country it would be Osage Orange trees. That fruit weighs about a pound and when it
falls it can make quite a commotion. We're getting rain about every day here. I saw some ducks going to school this morning, they had umbrellas and galoshes.

Thank you for posting!

I am resurrecting this old thread to say thank you for the OP for starting this thread.

To explain: Back in October 2021 we were camping at a beautiful beach site in NorCal. After a couple of wonderful days we suddenly noticed a crack in our Maxx Fan lid - with light coming through! Yikes! We have no idea how the crack got there...other than possibly from a huge pinecone from a tree that was directly above us?? Hummmmm

Knowing how vulnerable those Maxxfan electronic components are to water (thanks to this forum), we quickly rushed to the local Hardware store and got some Gorilla glue to patch the crack. Thankfully, we had a telescoping ladder with us (thanks again to someone here who posted that wonderful ladder here) which enabled us to reach the top of the trailer to patch the crack.

A read of the manual for our Maxxfan (5100K model) says it only has a 2 year warranty and of course, with our luck, we were just past that. So I searched all over the web to buy just a Maxxfan cover and of course, I could not find any cover due to all the supply chain problems. The earliest date offered by any site (including etrailer.com) was for May 2022!

Then I came across this thread, which prompted me to call Maxxfan. While talking to the warranty department guy, he asked me when I purchased the trailer. I told him April of 2019. Then he started to ask for a shipping address and information. I was confused, assuming I was past the warranty date. Then he explained that the motor and electronic parts of the Maxxfan has a 2 year warranty. The lid however, has a 5 year warranty! What a surprise! No mention of this in the manual! He said they would be sending me one in the mail soon free of charge. And low and behold, it just arrived!

Thanks again to OP for saving me $$$ on a new Maxxfan lid!! And thanks to all who contribute so much helpful information and advice here!!! -Bea
