Maxx Fan Hatch Cover
While trying out the Maxx Fan in our new 19, I noticed that when cranking up the lid, the outer cover only allows it to go up just a small amount. I can't see any way to raise the outer cover to allow the lid to go up all the way. Am I missing something or is this the "standard operating procedure" ??

Re: Maxx Fan Hatch Cover
Doug, it does not open wide like the other vents. It still leaves a large opening, and with the fan blowing lots of air blows through it.

Hi: NuthatchBC... You have just discovered the beauty of the MaxxFan. The fact that it works so well while "Up just a small amount". The fact that you can leave it open in bad weather and no water gets in is great. I'm really glad Escape uses these fans...no cover required!!! Alf

And, if you accidentally leave it open while traveling, you won't rip the snot out of it... unlike the other main brand, which shall remain nameless.

Re: Maxx Fan Hatch Cover
Well, who knew !!! I agree that it's a great design, now that I know it was done on purpose <g>.
And, I've sometimes wondered if those that leave their vent lids open and drive down the road at 60 miles per hour need instructions to put their underwear on in the morning.

Re: Maxx Fan Hatch Cover
Nobody ever gets rain or snow in? We have left the Maxx Fan partly open while in outside storage. I don't like the idea of shutting up the trailer completely. I wonder if other people leave theirs open. I worry about leaving it that way when it is not handy to check all of the time.

Re: Maxx Fan Hatch Cover
Has anyone substituted the Fantastic Vent? It lets in way more light than the Maxx Fan!!

We got over 1/2" of rain last night & mine was left open - not a drop. Also just finished driving 75 miles @ 60MPH with the hatch open and everything is still there!
I generally leave it at least cracked all the time, even when running the furnace or an electric heater. Keeps down the condensation...

Re: Maxx Fan Hatch Cover
Thank you, Jon. Then we can leave the Maxx fan open maybe 1/3 of the way all of the time and, yes, I would want it open when running the propane or electric heater. Condensation seems to be a big problem that we need to pay attention to, not to mention ventilation.
