Maxxair Replacement

The Maxxair fan on my 2013 19 foot escape has quit working. Checked the fuse, but that is not the problem. I believe replacing the unit should be relatively simple unless I am missing something. Has anyone replaced their Maxxair without using a repair shop? If so, how did you access the unit on the roof? I don't believe the trailer is designed to support my climbing on it.

Mine quit and it was simply a wire that had broken. I had ETI fix it since I'm electrically challenged.

I only replaced the cover, but it's easiest doing it from inside the trailer. You do at one point need to reach out on the roof and lift off the whole assm. I'm taking it you do not need to replace everything, if you do you'll need to R&R the sealant, up on the roof...

Here's the instructions for the lid, it includes taking out the guts of the unit.

Might try calling Airxcel tech support and see if they instructions to remove just the parts you need to replace. You'd get to see what it entails.

I replaced the exterior cover on my E19, laid down a 2'x2' piece of plywood to spread my weight on each side.

I replaced the entire fan because the lift arm broke and I wanted the smoke cover. It is a very easy replacement. Take the trim ring off on the inside, disconnect the power and then remove 4 screws up top and lift the fan assembly off. I knelt on the edge of the roof but you should put down a piece of cardboard and then plywood to distribute your weight. The new fan will fit within the existing frame on the roof so you will not need to do any roof work / resealing. Note that the new frame does have an inset gasket that the fan would rest on that the old doesnít but I didnít install it. The old one works fine without any leaks. Let me know if you need anymore info.
