In the process of removing the mattress and drying out the bed after my husband's trip to the Olympic Peninsula (see
Wet Bed thread), he found that the OSB (plywood bed base) was pretty severely bowed. I don't know if it was because of the moisture or the amount of weight on that side of the bed
. Sorry I didn't get a photo of that. Bruce looked under the bed and found that the bed supports do not go all the way back to the back trailer wall but cantilever out from the front portion of the bed assembly.
He jacked up the bed base to make it level and built the supports shown in the photos below. The first photo was taken through the hatch outside. The second photo is taken from inside the trailer, through the under bed doors. I don't think there will be any bowing from now on. 8) Also there is plenty of room for the plastic storage containers I'd been keeping under there.
Not sure if this is still the design used for the under support of the bed.
p.s. What is the metal rod with the loop on the end? We keep it under the bed but not sure why
