That's correct. The springs are included and keep it tight against the side. Daubers love the furnace vent. One of my friends called me over last fall to help figure out why his furnace would not work. Daubers had carried mud and built a huge nest against the fan inside.

Those springs are the ones I can not get to attach to the furnace holes, I'm bringing mine with me to the rally, maybe someone with better eyes can help.

CP use long needle nose pliers to install the springs.

Though not as elegant as the springs that Dave used, one could loop some wire around the furnace grate and feed it through the screen. Slide the screen up against the trailer and twist the ends together.

I suspect that the screen would bend and the wires would go slack pretty quickly, compromising the seal against the trailer and allowing the screen to move. I would want the springs.

I just purchased a screen for the furnace vent. It is the Camco FUR100. Found it at a small local RV & boat shop. It comes with the tool to attach the springs to the furnace vent; very simple installation. Cost was $21. Like Dave noted above, I'll also use some facing material to keep the screen from rubbing against the trailer.

I can not seem to get the springs with the tool to properly attach to the furnace vent holes. The springs are too large to fit without bending.

I guess my eyes are not as good as they used to be, I'm going to try the needle nose plier suggestion, when it stops raining.

Correct and I installed some clear plastic tubing around the perimeter to prevent scratching.

Here are a couple of pics on the screen. I used a car door edge protector. The protector went on the screen with little difficulty yet is quite secure. Installation on the trailer was a snap.

Roof vent too?

We're in the process of putting insect / mud dauber screens on the vents on our new 19' trailer. Has anyone seen a need to put one on the refrigerator roof vent? If so, how'd you do it?
Thanks in advance.
