My Maxxvent fan just beeps

My fan won't turn, and I only get single beeps when I press keys on the fan body control panel. One will give me a series of 3 beeps, but the fan remains motionless. The manual is not very helpful but I did try resetting it by disconnecting the fuse briefly. No change in behavior.

Regards,

Matt

Re: My Maxxvent fan just beeps

It's possible that your MaxxFan PCB (motherboard/control panel) has failed - especially if water/moisture has potentially gotten in there.

Read the following thread http://escapeforum.org/index.php?topic=1073.0

If nothing else, I'd suggest contacting the customer reps at MaxxAir to describe your problem as they are very helpful & responsive. They could potentially help you diagnose & possibly solve the problem.

Good luck,
Brad

Re: My Maxxvent fan just beeps

I had that problem with my Fantastic Fan.
I didn't have the cover or vent open and the 'dead man' switch wouldn't allow the fan to start!
I opened the vent and the fan worked.

It is the PCB!

I unscrewed the four screws on the outer bezel and looked inside and there was a scorch mark on the inside of the bezel near the printed circuit board. The PCB itself had some char marks on it and it looked like one or more of the traces were fried. I unplugged the PCB and wired 12V directly to the fan motor and it kicked right on. It looks like the PCB is definitely the problem, so I left a support ticket on the website. I think the unit's still under warranty, since it's been just a year and they quote 2 years on the fan and lifetime on the housing.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Regards,

Matt

Re: My Maxxvent fan just beeps

J Mac found one of the non damage things that stop your fan from working. The other ones are some fans have a thermostat and will only run when the temp reaches the setting.
Then there are two ways to turn it on. The blow out-off-blow in switch and the speed selection switch, off-low-med-high.

Re: My Maxxvent fan just beeps

It's apparently a bad PCB based on the char marks running up the inside bezel. They're sending me a replacement. Say, do people have model 5100 or 5100K here? I wonder if this is an aftermarket or custom option because it's 5100K and therefore should have had the IR remote and additional speeds. I ordered the remote for about $23. Anyone have the remote? Anyone? Bueller?

I had a similar problem with ours. After contacting the Maxx Fan folks, they sent me a new board. After installation, it works great.

MaxxFan is fixed!

The new circuit board for the 5100K arrived on Thursday and I had a chance yesterday to get it installed yesterday, and it's working great. I paid an extra $23 and they sent a remote that does everything except open the vent. Shhh. Don't tell the remote - it has buttons for that feature, but the fan doesn't!

We haven't had much occasion to use the fan, though, because it's been raining for the past few days and pretty cold.

Regards,

Matt
