Need for freezer

Hello,

I want to begin by thanking everyone for sharing all your information and experiences, it has helped us greatly throughout our build and to understanding the trailer and all it's systems.

We are finally getting to take it out on longer road trip, we had intended to do this last year but life got in the way. I think I have everything under control but I have a question about our RM 8551 4.3 cubic feet fridge, in the manual it says you can operate it without the freezer compartment. Given some of the issues with this unit is it better to leave it out? I'm not sure how much we would use it, I can get used to no ice in my cola.

Again, thanks, your advice is appreciated.

P.S. I did look for a thread but could't find one that talks about this directly.

We removed it for one trip because we didn't need a freezer. Fridge worked fine, no issues removing it. When we have frozen stuff to take we use it.

So the choice is yours. Keep it with the trailer and you can be flexible how you use it.

What Ron said. We have the 4.3 and removed the freezer compartment only to squeeze extra coldness down here when hot times are outside. Never bothered to put it back but only because we haven't needed it... since always bring along a cooler packed with ice regardless.

We just don't use the freezer on our 4.3 so we have removed it and the crisper and purchased extra shelf's. We like the extra frig room. It been like this for 2 years now and we have no cooling problems anymore running it this way.
