New pickup
I just bought a 2013 4 door F150 3.5L ecoboost F150 with a 5.5 bed and a 9200# tow rating and the factory tow package (controller integrated into dash). Would this work for a 5.0TA? We have two kayaks and two bikes, but may not bring the kayaks on long trips.
We've got some folks looking at our Parkliner as soon as Monday, so really don't want to get ahead of myself. But what do you folks think? Seems to me there are folks here who have put a 5th wheel hitch on a 5.5 bed?
Thanks for any assistance. Not real sure what way we're going here.
Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend!
Frank

A 5.5 foot bed will work fine with a 5.0TA Frank. The hitch may be need to be mounted slightly more toward the rear of the bed in order to insure clearance, but several folks here tow with that setup.

Many people including me are towing the 5.0 TA with a 5.5' bed. No problems or issues at all. I am using the Anderson Ultimate Rail Mounted Hitch and my tow capacity is 7400 Lb. and payload capacity (combined weight of passengers and cargo) is 1391 Lbs. I'm using a 2010 F 150 SuperCrew 4 X 2 with the 5.4L V8 and 127,000 miles on it. I often tow over the "Ike Gauntlet" Eisenhower Tunnel into Silverthorne and then over Rabbit Ears Pass or Vail Pass and several other passes to get to camping sites. You would have no problems towing with the 3.5L Ecoboost.

What you have listed all works, but you didn't list the payload. The payload is the limiting factor for most people towing the 5.0TA; the trailer's pin weight, plus the weight of the hitch, plus cargo in the truck, plus people in the truck can add up to too much is the truck doesn't have enough payload.

Hi Frank, the truck will work fine if the payload is sufficient. Bikes on the rear receiver with an RV rated rack. I suspect the yaks may be too long for a truck roof rack, but it is something you can look into once you get a trailer and can do some measurements. I get my 15' canoe up there but that's with an 8' bed. Maybe 10 - 12' would work.
