Hi I just picked up our new 17B from Escape on Thursday. I'm testing out all the systems.
The refrigerator runs great on 110v. When I switched to propane I'm getting a burning smell from the upper grill. I assumed it's burning off any shipping oil etc. However it's been an hour and I still have it. Otherwise fridge seems to be working fine. Temp has stayed below 40*.
Bob for piece of mind I would pull the lower grill off and look up inside, even try a light and mirror and just check.
Probably normal just like the furnace and water heater smell first time there used but never hurts to look.
I would also check to make sure the venting from the refrigerator to the roof is not partially blocked and the vent opening on the roof was cut out to the full dimensions of the vent cap
Thanks for the quick come back. I do not have any vent on the roof, two on the wall.
My first reaction was to open the bottom grill/vent. I don't see anything that appears to be unusual. I can see a glow from the base of the burner. It's quite warm to the touch. I'll try to get a mirror to look up from the bottom.
The smell is almost gone now so assuming it's normal. Fridge still operating fine. It has been a couple of hours on propane now.
I'll switch to 110 in an hour. We get on the highway Monday, I'll switch to propane then. It should be well burned in by the time we stop.
