Noisy Step

When I go in and out of the trailer, the step makes an awful clanking/banging noise. I thought all steps were that way, until I went in and out of some other Escapes at the recent Bandon rally. They were quiet. As were the steps from other companies.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on fixing it so it doesn't make noise? I feel like I'm waking up folks nearby as it's so dang noisy.

It's due to the metal step hitting the metal frame of the assembly underneath.

Thanks

So, what did the quiet step Escape owners say they did to keep their step quiet at the rally?

They did not say anything, they were hard of hearing and could not hear the question OR the step going “clank clank.”

I wish I had thought about it at the time, but it wasn't until much later that I realized they didn't clang. Too late to go back and ask.

I spray my step with some lube when the rust starts making the step "stick" otherwise my hard od hearing ears do not mind the noise, so to speak.
