John, these wedge base LED's were replacement plug in's for the white LED array? Where'd you get them? Thanks.

So, for the record, sir, you admit that you frequently spend the night in a red-light district?

But officer I was just walking my new dog. Her name is Honey, as in “Come here Honey”.

I noticed Escape is using a different plywood in their tables, the newer ones are lighter than the older presswood/plywood tables. I also notice the trim is not as recessed and when sitting at the table the sharp edge becomes quite bothersome. Today I took a spokeshave and trimmed maybe a 1/16 piece off the top of the edge trim all along the counter tops and table. The result is quite noticeable, smooth transition from horizontal to vertical edging and no more sharp edges digging into your skin. Here is a picture of the tool I used, new blade, very sharp.

Wow, haven't seen anyone using a spokeshave for a long time. Mine just sit on a shelf unused.

Instead of using a spokeshave or a block plane for trimming an edge that's proud of the surface, I use only the blade. I put the blade down with the bevel up and slice sideways. Can't take off too much that way. Whatever works.

I knew it was working since it came off in spiral coils, maybe 18" long and curling up on the floor.. New blade set very high....very smooth edge now at a 45 degree vs 90 degree edge. BTW, it was my dad's tool with new blade.

I use a spokeshave in projects requiring the shaping of the wood as they are great at that. Canoes, chair legs, and a few other things have benefited by my owning a couple.

I tried using my Buck knife but using one hand, the result was not consistent. With the spokeshave using 2 hands it is solid and consistent results.

I have a few of them and use them once in a while, making paddles and such.

They seem to work great on the trim in the Escape.

When my brother and I built a table for our 19 we took great pains to set the slot cutting router bit for the trim at exactly 1/2 way from the top and bottom. We got it perfectly centered, cut the slot and pressed in the vinyl trim strip. I was disappointed that the top edge was proud by a fraction of an inch. I could see it and feel it. How could this be I thought? Then i closely examined an uninstalled strip of trim. Guess what. The center rib that went in the slot was not exactly centered. It was off by about the thickness of the rib. I could have pulled it out and flipped it over and left it proud on the bottom of the table but I did not. I trimmed it off with a very slight downward bevel with a Havalon Piranta knife which I usually use for skinning raccoons. Looked and felt perfect when I was done. Blade was still razor sharp and ready for Rocky.

Dave, you're a font of such interesting stuff. Still trying to figure out how you apply the KISS principle to catching coyotes.

I’ll send you some pictures this fall. Coyotes are very interesting and of a little higher order than some other critters but they still have habits and curiosity. The Mark Zagger Pipe
Dream set has revolutionized catching them the past few years. It is not complex or voodoo science which 50 years ago was believed to be the only way to catch old Wily. A fellow named Mark June has some great techniques too but recently answered the call of the Lord and is out of the trapping world for now. The National Tappers Association will hold their national convention in Spencer Iowa next summer. It’s another world. My good friend Red O’Hearn will be a featured participant.

Escape Family

My morning is just not complete unless I have caught up with postings on this forum.

It is worth buying an Escape trailer, so you can learn from, and get to know Fred, Dora, Donna, Dave, Glenn, Jim, and the other Jim, and all the other folks who make up this amazing community.

Regardless of any problems with any trailers and regardless of any management changes at the factory, this family of owners, make the whole experience worth the effort.

They and others are wonderful ambassadors for trailer life in an Escape.

Fred and Dora are in currently in Alaska. Great people and I like to keep track of any problems they notice with their trailer as they probably have the record for most miles put on a Escape trailer in a year.
