Love the oven and use it . Have always had one in all our RV's and always will . Pat

I am looking forward to trying to bake in a Weber 1200 using the 6x6 clay tile method. I hope to be places that it is too hot to bake in an oven inside a travel trailer (like Arizona or New Mexico or maybe Texas)

I like having the oven. Don't use it super often but gives options we wouldn't otherwise have. Fresh baked still hot cinnamon buns on a cold morning are a great option.

I also like having the oven. Made biscuits the other day. They hit the spot!

My oven - it doesn't use up the propane or heat up the trailer.
When it's raining Norma pulls a toaster/convection oven out of the pantry and sets it on the counter.

The tiles do not weigh much all. I would guess less than a pound each, but worth a better baked product. The tiles are very similar to a pizza stone, although thicker, ridged on the bottom side for air flow, flat on the top side. Click image for larger version

Still so glad Donna talked us into the oven - entitles her to a lifetime of camping scones (and brownies).

Seriously though, I tried the a pizza stone in the oven and didn't like it. I read somewhere to be extra careful of tiles since the clay can contain lead. I now use Airbake pans - love them. If I don't have the right pan for a recipe I'll just put an Airbake cookie sheet under it.

Interesting tip, Kathie. I have found that our oven bakes a little on the cool side. Last batch of biscuits I turned up the heat by 25ºF and they did much better. I'll give an Airbake a shot.

The tiles mentioned previously are specialized for oven use. They have no glaze. Some Glazed tiles (or any other glazed pottery for that matter) can contain lead, but the lead is in the glaze, not the clay. We picked up some clay pots in Mexico a few years back that we intended to use for beans, etc, but our lead tester showed all of the pots unsuitable for cooking.

Thanks for clarifying. Either way, I have found that you really don't need tiles or a pizza stone in the oven with the Airbake cookware. I also agree with Mary, the temp seems to run a little cool.

As full-timers in our 17' Casita, we look forward to having an oven in our 2017 21' Escape.
Has anyone ever opted for a 21" oven instead of the 17" oven? Currently, I only see the 17" as an option, but I thought I would ask anyway.

We have the 17 oven. To install a 21 in a 21 would require a major cabinet redesign, so I doubt Reace would go for that.
