Paint coming off awning cover

Discovered this when I recently washed the trailer. It wasn't there a month or so ago. I don't remember running into any trees, but who the heck knows.

There was a small area where the paint on the top of the awning (new, electric style) had come off and when I touched it more came off, so I left it alone after that.

Any suggestions on the best product to touch up the paint, as well as stopping it from coming off even more? When I asked Reace about it on the phone (when he called to see about coming by on the first day of his hose-fix-it cross-countries trip to replace the awning tabs), he said it's powder coated. Doesn't help me figure it out one bit.

Thanks folks.

Some white touch up paint to keep it from rusting. I agree, a low branch hit your awning. Treat like your first scar as a child, growing pains.

I was thinking that, but was wondering if that would keep the paint from peeling off even more. It's pretty loosely attached, so to speak, up there. I wasn't too impressed with how easily it was coming off.

The impact area looks like it's easily the size of a 50 cent piece. You will lose all that powder coat. There's nothing you can do about it. It's "popped." Best to peel it up to where it won't peel anymore and then paint. You can't fix it with powder coat, that is fired on in an oven.

Thanks Donna for that explanation. Makes sense to me and with what I was seeing. I do plan to contact Dometic and see what they say.

See here for explanation of powder coating and repair...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_coating
I doubt Dometic can help due to the process above and it is cosmetic issue due to use.
