Picture of 17b 200 pound capacity goucho bunk supports
It is time for me to upgrade the goucho bunk in my 2006 17b from the old 120 pound capacity to the current 200 pound capacity. I Think the weight limit was increased before 2010.
I'd appreciate it greatly if someone would post a picture of one of the bunk support rails and the mating fitting in one of the walls.
Thanks!
Escape said the difference was a change in rod material from aluminum to steel, but mine was steel already. They wouldn't sell me a replacement set so I am not sure if the heavy weight set includes a steel housing and rod, or just a steel rod.
Because the bunk does flex a bit when my son is on it, and I sleep on the lower bunk so I notice, I added flanges as shown on the attached picture. I added fasteners in every other hole and the bunk looks pretty stable from the underneath.
Does you upper bunk have three hinges on the front edge?
My rods are steel, & my bunk is supported by three heavy hinges with pretty skookum (that's a technical term for "I have no idea of the size or thread count") screws.
I tried climbing into the bottom bunk when the top was in place -- I decided I'd have to be a contortionist -- & a lot smaller -- to get in & out comfortably.
