Propane cover

Is the propane cover designed to stay on during transport? I don't see any place to attach it.

It is supposed to.

I added a re-usable zap-strap to mine. Goes down through existing hole. Goes around handle of propane tank and back up through the existing hole in the cover.

On the bottom of mine both front and back, there's a tab with a hole in it. Thought maybe I was missing something, I'll have to look at it again and perhaps just do what you did.

If you go thru some of the owner mod posts you should see where several of us have posted where we used a bungee strap along the bottom to keep the whole cover in place. Also you can reverse the cover to where the flap opens away from you for better access to the tanks while I have seen others positioned the opposite way, to keep the flap down in case it gets loose.

A bungee cord is a great idea! I should have thought of that, I guess I was thinking there would be some kind of factory hold down setup.

As I said, it should stay in place because of the indents in the cover ( friction fit ). Mine did for five years and then I added the zap-strap. Some have lost the lid in the cover. I think you just have to make sure the thumb nuts are tight.

Your post makes sense but when I placed my cover over the tanks it just falls on, no friction fit.

It fall on, but there is resistance ( besides its own weight ) from the indents at the bottom of the tank.
Anyway, may I be forgiven, you could just drill a couple holes at the bottom of the cover and run a bungie under the frame.
I think others have glued a strip of ensolite or some such on the inside of the indent to increase friction.

I think that's the best option! I have no problem drilling holes in the cover!

Yup, drilling the holes in the cover is the easy part. Remembering to put on the bungee cord...not so much. But I haven't lost it yet.

Though my problem is the fit with the storage box, propane cover and the electric hitch jack. Sounds like others have reshaped the cover to flatten it out so it doesn't require removing the propane cover each time you want in the storage box.

Good to have the trailers! Dave did great job getting them to us!

We have a 19 with all three. No issues getting into the storage box, lifting the tank cover, or with the power jack clearance.

When we picked up, Dennis suggested the bungee cord. Ann Marie had a bungee cord out of the truck and attached to the cover in about 30 seconds

Yes, that is what I did way back in 2012 on my first Escape - (now belongs to Cypherian) and continued on BlackJack. Not as a security measure but to keep it from coming off while on the highway as it slips easily on and off. For those who have trailer delivery, the tank covers ride inside and you install once delivery is complete.
