Propane not working

Pouring down rain. Ugh! Turned on propane (both tanks). One is full—the other half. No propane getting to the stove top or refrigerator. Any ideas?

Propane

My guess is that you opened the valves too quickly. Close valves and reopen slowly. If still no joy, close valves, unscrew the two hand nuts and pull them back from the tank. Then screw them back on and open the valves slowly . Also you could try flipping the regulator changeover lever to the other side so it points at the full tank. That’s all I got

Not much else it could be then besides a faulty regulator. But I would turn the bottles back on and take a good listen / sniff under the trailer in case there is a leak somewhere in the propane line.

More checking

Smaller percentage chances
1. Tanks are empty though you think they aren’t.
2. Sometimes you have to wait quite a while for the gas to get to the burners. Can you hear
Air being pushed out if you listen down by the burners?
3. Use a screwdriver handle and tap on the regulator top might make whatever is stuck come loose.
4. Regulators do go bad. If you have to buy a new one get a Marshall brand.
5. Get a bottle of propane leak soap with a dauber at a hardware store to check for leaks upon reinstallation.
6. I always replace the pigtail hoses when I change a regulator too. Cheap insurance.
Good luck
Dave

Dave, went for dinner to warm up and tried again when we got back. Turned on tanks ever so slowly, and it worked. You are our hero forever!!! Thank you!!!!

Success

Glad to hear you will have heat on a cool evening and be able to use your refrigerator and stove. Propane and propane systems can be fickle. If we ever camp together remind me to tell you the Story of Roy “Shorty” Ulmer and the brooder house propane tank. You’ll need some time because that story will lead to several others.
Good camping to you.

When one of my tanks gets empty I immediately refill it and switch over the selector or I go out and sell my Escape and order a new one....
