Boyle's Law...seriously? I haven't thought about that in probably fifty years. I am now pretty sure that only gas bags go to these rallies.

Thanks for a good laugh...again.

Deep thoughts or deep something

Hi Karen
Eric is a retired educator and a very deep thinker. You can’t get around him without learning something. It’s gonna be a long winter.

But the volume of gas always increases at the rallies irrespective of pressure (at a constant temperature, of course), so they're breaking all the rules!

I've invited my dentist, and his mini-torque wrench, to the competition.

He's welcome, as long as we all get to practice on your new implants before the contest...

Little wrench

Hi Glenn
That’s smaller than anything I have, hope his eyes are better than mine when it comes to
adjusting the ping point. Thunk. Whoops

I had to get home to dig up a couple cans of dimes because I was a little short to get the good reverend bailed out. I heard Mary busted you out so from there you were on your own.

Excess flow valve

The relevant safety feature is an excess flow valve, and it is located in the fitting at the end of the hose which attaches to the tank, rather than on the tank itself. They way it works is to severely restrict (but not completely block) flow when triggered by an excessively high flow rate. Because it does allow some flow, a stove burner may still be able to operate (it has for me in this situation); however, the furnace and water heater need a substantial propane flow to light successfully, so they will fail to start (and they have for me in this situation).
