Propane regulator
Hello all,
Just thought I would share my recent experience with my 2008 17B. I hope this is the right place to do it.
Went to check everything for the first time this year and propane wouldn't flow to anything!(not stove, heater or fridge) After checking to make sure I had propane in the tank, I cracked the fitting at the top of the regulator. After backing off about 3/4 turn I could hear hissing and observed bubbles from the dish soap I applied to the fitting, so I knew gas was flowing out of the tank.
Having got that far, I went to my local RV store and bought a new regulator. Naturally it was not the same brand Reace put in the trailer new, so I had to drill new holes in the mounting bracket. The Escape people mounted the regulator with pop rivets so I drilled them out. Not having the right size pop riveter, I remounted the regulator using 10-32 x 3/4" stainless screws with nuts and washers. Had to take apart the front inside wall of the trailer to expose the mounting holes. Total time to replace: about two hours (and I work pretty slow!).
In my research last evening on regulators, I read several times that seasoned RV'ers carry a spare regulator just in case.
Anyway, after almost 8 years owning this Escape, this is only the second maintenance item to come up. I repacked the wheel bearings a couple of years ago.
The fit, finish and performance of my Escape is still very close to the same as the day we took delivery. A quality product!
