Re: refrigerator
Thats what I have done on past rv's I've owned. run the fridge on the battery when driving. Passing big rigs have teneded to blow out the propane flame.

Re: refrigerator
Hi: All...Good plan if you have a 3 way fridge!!! The 5cu.ft. ones installed by Escape are 2 way only elect.& propane. I think the larger fridge would tax the most competent charging system of a vehicle, trying to keep up to the batteries draw. Alf

Re: refrigerator
Inevitably, on hot days I forget to switch from 12V to propane when I stop, and the trailer's batteries start to fade remarkably fast. And with the fridge on DC while driving, the battery charges very slowly.
So now I mostly use the 12V when I am required to have the propane off - like on ferries. Before I do that, I set the fridge for lower temperature for a while. On 12V, I go to a higher temperature so the fridge doesn't need to work so hard.

Re: refrigerator
A refridgerator is real nice to have when it works. Ours isn't. Barely 2 months in use and the cooling unit leaked and has to be replaced......warranty I expect. Anyone else have such issues with their Dometic 3cuf fridge.

Re: refrigerator
Hi: JerryCpei... Thats bad news...Warm beer isn't good unless your British!!! I think Mosquito Dirk had his go down within 2 yrs of ownership...thats the only other one I've heard of, in an Escape.
I'm sure that Reace can find a PEI RV dealer that can replace it under warranty. They are away a few days in Bandon Oregon. Alf

Our Casita had a 3-way 'fridge and I used this method for a while before switching to using propane. I did discover how easy it is to replace the 7-pin plug after its dragged over 100 miles of road. Must remember to replace the plug Must remember to replace the plug Must remember to replace the plug Must remember to replace the plug Must remember to replace the plug
Another lesson learned.

Re: refrigerator
Would a fluorescent sticky note on the steering wheel help? The advantage of propane is the pre-cooling and not having to remember.
